we have a cousin who is really into genealogy. he is a cousin by marriage, so it impresses me all the more that he has traced our family back to the 400s. i'm proud to say that we come from a long line of royalty. i don't know where this will get us, and i'm sure that pretty much everyone comes from a long line of royalty...but now we have the papers to prove it. here is a small really long and braggy sampling of the royalty we originate from.
~ countess of arundel
~ countess and earl of oxford
~ earl of lancaster
~ queen of navarre
~ more than one king and queen and prince of england
~ count and countess of angouleme
~ count of anjou
~ duke of aqutaine
~ count of poitou
~ king of jerusalem
~ empress of germany
~ king of scotland
~ earl of wessex
~ i'm sure you've stopped reading now
~ lots more counts and dukes in lots more places i have never heard of
~ and he traced us back the farthest to cynic king* of west saxons who was born in 447
chris has often told me that i am a royal pain. i guess he is right!
do you have royal blood?
happy monday!
xoxo,
two birds
*i have to say, i think it's kind of funny that we come from a line of cynic kings. i have always considered myself to be very optimistic! ; )

Wow, what an interesting discovery. I would love to know about my ancestry too. Thanks for sharing this...love your story. I am pretty sure I don't have royal blood in me...hehe.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I like both your outfits. Very chic and sassy. I want Megan's shoes! So cute!
Cheers,
Kate

All I know is that we are descended from a Native Canadian tribal chief, about 5 or 6 generations back. That's it for "royal" blood here, but I'll take it! :)
ReplyDeleteTrying to come up with an oufit based on this one has inspired one thing for me: a definite NEED for red jeans! I'm on a hunt now!
That is too cool--I've always wondered about my genealogy, but I've never really taken the time to find out about it. I'd love to be able to say I have royal blood :) Anyway, I love both of your takes on this look--Megan, I love how you did a vest instead of a blazer and Nora, I love how you changed up the pieces but kept the color scheme!
ReplyDeletei don't think I have any royalty in my family! I LOVE these looks! and love how you're wearing the same colors but different pieces. That red blazer is perfect!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool - you guys should be famous or something :) LOVE the inspiration and the looks you both created - such an awesome color combo!

The Other Side of Gray
Wow, traced back all the way to the 400s?! I'm so impressed, that is amazing.
ReplyDeleteLove both the outfits and really want to recreate this look now too! Nora, I love how you swapped the colors on top and bottom :)
I love Nora's outfit! And Qupid shoes are amazing....I have an amazing pair of green wedge heels by them that I adore!
ReplyDeleteI love both looks! You girls make me want to go buy a ton of colorful pants.
ReplyDeleteAwesome post too! I have no idea if we are royal or not, but I am some sort of distant cousin of Rick Astley. There are a TON of Astley's in England, we are like Jones's over there.
Ooh la la! Descended from royalty! I've had a few family members work on geneology, but it just overwhelms me how complex it gets. You two look great! This was an especially great pick! Thanks!

I love that you descended from royalty! We have traced our genealogy a bit on my dad's side, supposedly my ancestors came to America because they were on the run from the law, so hey, royalty is way better, lol.
ReplyDeleteMegan I like your look even more than Aubrey's! Nora, that jacket is fabulous!!
Great inspiration - love the bright colored pants!
ReplyDelete400's?! That is impressive. I don't know that I trace back to royalty but I'll be damned if I don't tell people that I do :) Kidding. Sort of.
ReplyDeleteHannah Tattoos and Pearls
Wow, I love both of your takes on the outfit. I love Megan's trousers and Nora's jacket xx
ReplyDeleteI shall now bow down to you :) I love the inspiration looks. And I adore Aubrey Plaza. Parks and Rec is one of my favorite shows.
ReplyDeleteThat's so neat that he traced the family so far back! And that's very impressive that you have so much royal blood lines in your family. I really only know as far back as my great-great grandparents.

Wow, very interesting on the family tree!
ReplyDeleteAlso love both outfits! Red white and black is so much fun. ;)
Great outfits you both did great! I love the wedge shoes, so cute with the little peep toe. Hmm I don't think I have any royal blood but I don't think anyone has ever tried to put much of a family tree together! lol
ReplyDeleteReally digging those bright pants. I have been such a hoarder of bright pants lately.

ReplyDeleteI don't think I have any royal blood lines in my family.
you each look great in your outfits. I love how you each kinda flipped the look.
ReplyDeleteWow Nora, that's a darn brilliant rendition of the outfit but with a lovely summery edge! Nora, I love your inversion of the colours- really gorgeous top and jacket combo, so so pretty on you! I'd love a jacket like that!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's impressive genealogy. We've only got as far as 1700 or something like that with our family I think!
Love the clever colour swap of red on top and gray on bottom. And that tasselled necklace is the cat's miaow!

Nice interpretation looks! I love how you both went for the cuffed skinny jeans (me, too!), but switched up the red. :)
ReplyDeleteHee hee, I love the line "~ i'm sure you've stopped reading now" :D
ReplyDeleteMy husband's Scottish ancestry, the Fraser clan, links back to Robert the Bruce.
Wow. Impressive! Someone from the house of Lancaster...I'm reading about them now!

My grandfather is really into genealogy - he had our family traced back to Irish and Spanish kings. Kind of fun to know, even if it does me absolutely no good in 2012.:)
ReplyDeleteBlack, white and red is one of my favorite color combos. Love how you both pulled it off!
WOW!! You ladies rocked the inspiration!!! Work it!! Own it!! And now I can say I have friends that are from true royalty!! That is so cool and crazy!! You ladies so need to join my Bauble Swap!! It's going to be so much fun!! Come play!!

ReplyDeleteGreat looks for both of you! I can't even pick a favorite because they are both wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love both of your looks but I must admit I am more partial to Nora's. I love that blazer and the T-strap heels!
